Medical Requirements and Safety Guidelines

At Flower of Life Ayahuasca Healing Center in Peru, the safety and overall wellbeing of each guest is our number one priority. To ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone, we require each person to complete a comprehensive medical form as part of the booking process.

Medical Disclosure

It is imperative that all medical history be disclosed on the form. Once we receive this information, we will discuss any necessary medications that need to be ceased prior to your arrival and address any medical concerns you may have.

Substance Guidelines

To ensure your safety during the Ayahuasca ceremonies, the following guidelines regarding substance use must be strictly adhered to:

Street Drugs: All street drugs must be discontinued at least two weeks before the start of your program and cannot be resumed for at least two weeks following your last ceremony. Combining these substances with Ayahuasca can be severely dangerous or even fatal. This includes, but is not limited to:
Cocaine
Amphetamines (meth-, dex-, amphetamine), ephedrine, MDMA (Ecstasy), MDA, MDEA, PMA
Opiates (heroin, morphine, codeine, especially opium)
Dextromethorphan (DXM)
Nutmeg (at psychoactive levels)
5-MeO-DMT
LSD

Marijuana: Must be discontinued at least two weeks prior to the start of your program and may not be resumed for at least two weeks following your last ceremony. The use of marijuana is energetically contraindicated with Ayahuasca and may negatively affect both your experience and that of the group.

Pharmaceutical Medications: Certain medications must be discontinued before your retreat as they cannot be combined with Ayahuasca. Please consult your doctor before stopping any medication. If it is deemed safe to do so under medical advice, medications should be discontinued at least four weeks before your retreat. This includes:
Other MAOIs and SSRIs
5-HTP supplements (or any serotonin precursor)
Antihypertensives (high blood pressure medicine)
Appetite suppressants
Medicines for asthma, bronchitis, or other respiratory issues
Antihistamines and medications for colds, sinus problems, allergies
Any drug containing dextromethorphan/DXM
CNS depressants (e.g., Xanax, Ativan)
Vasodilators
Antipsychotics
Barbiturates

Eligibility Criteria

Certain individuals are not eligible to participate in Ayahuasca ceremonies to ensure their safety and the safety of others. People who are not suitable for participation include those who:

Are pregnant.
Have a terminal chronic illness or are in stages 3 or 4 of cancer.
Suffer from schizophrenia or any mental illness that requires specific treatment, hospitalization, or involves severe psychiatric disorders with psychosis.
Have a chronic heart condition or use a pacemaker.
